Hello, I am back with an RMT featuring M-Metagross which I believe I've reached 1700 elo(not so sure because I mainly test teams nowadays and idrc) and is one of the better teams that I've made in ORAS. So without further ado, let's get into the analysis of the team.
Teambuilding Process
Originally started off with this core, Pursuit Metagross for Lati twins and Manaphy broke down mons that gave Metagross trouble.
Raikou was added as a check to fast electric-types like M-Manectric, Raikou and Thundurus and other specially offensive threats.
Landorus-T was added to check physical attackers like Talonflame, M-Metagross and whatnot as well as being my rocker and forming a nice VoltTurn Core with Raikou.
I struggled to break down Grass and Steel-types like and needed a Fire-type on this team to break them down so Volcarona was added to do so.
Now I needed hazard control and another check to stuff like Specs Keldeo and Charizard-Y so I added Latias. It also provided HW support which has helped quite a few times in the past healing up stuff like Volcarona and whatever was my wincon in the match.
Finally SubCM Keldeo was added as my team was really weak to Bisharp and Keldeo almost functioned like Manaphy anyway, appreciated Pursuit trapping and performed well vs bulkier teams.
Analysis
Metagross @ Metagrossite
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Zen Headbutt
- Meteor Mash
- Pursuit
- Ice Punch
Here is the star of the team, M-Metagross, one of the biggest threats in the metagame right now. Meteor Mash and Zen Headbutt are my STABs which deal massive damage to so many pokemon in the metagame and are just not ideal moves to switch into. Ice Punch is for Landorus and Garchomp although it hasn't really helped me a lot, might as well try Grass Knot / Hone Claws / Hammer Arm. Pursuit is to trap the Lati twins so that the path is cleared for Keldeo to put in work.
Keldeo @ Leftovers
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Substitute
- Calm Mind
- Scald
- Secret Sword
SubCM Keldeo is an amazing pokemon to use vs bulkier teams. This is my Bisharp check and my potential wincon in some games. Scald and Secret Sword are my STABs that hit really hard after one CM and these moves allow it to function as a nice wall-breaker for the team, breaks down the bulky Steel-types that trouble Metagross like Ferrothorn and Heatran.
Raikou @ Assault Vest
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 32 HP / 224 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power [Ice]
Raikou is my check to specially oriented threats with an Assault Vest. Volt Switch is to gain some momentum on Heatran / Lati@s / Ferro switch ins while Thunderbolt is my second STAB which deals decent damage to mons. Shadow Ball hits stuff like the Lati twins and Gengar while HP Ice is there for Garchomp, Gliscor and Landorus-T. A very important glue mon for the team and has really been important in the games that I've played in
Landorus-Therian (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 240 HP / 16 SpD / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- U-turn
- Knock Off
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
Landorus was added as a blanket check to stuff like SD Talonflame, DD M-Altaria, DD ZardX and Dragonite as well as forming a nice VoltTurn core with Raikou. Also sets up rocks which I needed for the team. Earthquake is a nice STAB that hits very hard while U-Turn allows me to grab momentum, Knock Off is for ridding pokemon of items. Very important for this team in all fairness by checking so many threats at once
Volcarona @ Passho Berry
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 72 HP / 252 SpA / 184 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Quiver Dance
- Fiery Dance
- Giga Drain
- Bug Buzz
Volcarona is an amazingly good pokemon against underprepared teams and hits so hard after one Quiver Dance. Fiery Dance and Bug Buzz are my STABs that rip so many things after one QD and Giga Drain is a move that hits stuff like Quagsire, Keldeo and Rotom-W although HP Ground is an interesting choice over this. Passho Berry allows me to take a hit from SE Water-type moves and set up in their face and proceed to sweep.
Latias (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 72 HP / 184 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Defog
- Healing Wish
Latias was added to control hazards and check specially offensive threats like Keldeo and Charizard-Y. It also provides some nice HW support to the team which is great in case my wincon in that game gets weakened. Psyshock and Draco Meteor are the STABs which hit stuff like Kyurem-B, Keldeo, and other mons so that they get low enough for other mons on the team to clean up.
Final Thoughts
There you have it, a team that has been performing quite well against players and a well rounded team overall.
I have grown so much as a player since the start of the year, ever since I got active here, as well as made so many friends on here. I've gotten a lot of support from the friends I made here who pushed me to become a better player and perform on a consistent basis.
