Pardon my english ;w;
QC 1/3 (Ferrothorn)
Overview
• Ferrothorn is a decent defensive threat thanks to his mixed defenses and very good Grass / Steel typing
• Its type gives it a set of resistances, coupled to its high bulk, it allows Ferrothorn to check threats such as Primal-Kyogre, Xerneas, Arceus-Fairy or Arceus-Rock
• It has access to a plenty of good Support moves such as Stealth Rock, Spikes, and Leech Seed, makes it a decent choice in any bulky team
• But its typing gives it common weaknesses such as Fighting and double Fire weakness, which makes Ferrothorn threaten by Mega Rayquaza V-Create, Primal-Groudon and offensive threats that run Focus Blast or Fire Blast as coverage move
• Ferrothorn has a good Defense stat, but without investement it can't take powerful Physical Wallbreakers such as Mega Rayquaza and Arceus-Ghost
• Suffers of the presence of other Steel-types such as Arceus-Steel, Magearna and Celesteela, which gives better features, such as being a powerful wincon or a check to common threats, making it often prefered over Ferrothorn despite its qualities

Set Comments
Moves
• Leech Seed gives Ferrothorn a way to stay healty and does chip damage to opponent, as it lacks reliable recovery
• Protect allows Ferrothorn, in tandem with Leech Seed, to scout opponent next move and even more recovery
• Gyro Ball is used to give Ferrothorn a way to do damage and not being a setup bait for threats such as Xerneas
• Power Whip is an other way to deal damage and hits better Primal-Kyogre and Primal-Groudon mostly, but it won't help to beat Fairy-types and it's a bit weaker than Gyro Ball
• Ferrothorn can run Stealth Rock if your team lacks a user of it, it can set it on its free turns to cripple switch-ins and do chip damage
• Spikes is an alternative to Stealth Rock if you already have a user in your team
Set Details
• Leftovers gives passive recovery to Ferrothorn
• Iron Barbs is Ferrothorn's best ability and does chip damage to physical threats
• EVs and Sassy nature maximize special bulk and allows Ferrothorn to check Primal-Kyogre, Xerneas and Support Arceus varients
• 0 Speed IVs and negative nature makes Ferrothorn slower as possible to do more damage with Gyro Ball
Usage Tips
• Ferrothorn can switch-in on Pokémon such as Support Arceus or Primal-Kyogre thanks to its defensive typing and set either Stealth Rock or Spikes
• Leech Seed is very spammable in a meta that lacks Grass-types, it guarantees passive recovery for Ferrothorn and wear down opposite Pokemon
• Protect helps to scout opponent's Fire-type attacks and Focus Blast to keep Ferrothorn safe and avoid getting wear down by those, it should be also used cautiously, as it can give to Setup Sweepers such as Mega-Rayquaza a free turn to set up
• Ferrothorn can be switched-in safely against most Arceus Support variant, and help to check Calm mind varients with Leech Seed chip, but it can't do anything against Arceus-Steel
• Gyro Ball should be used carefully due to low PPs
• Avoid switch-ing in Ferrothorn too many times if not recovered or if opponent has set hazard to keep Ferrothorn healthy to check threats such as Primal-Kyogre
• Ferrothorn can be used as Status Absorber, it can switch on common Status users such as Lugia, Support Arceus or Zygarde-C since it's immune to Toxic and don't care of paralysis, burn is a bit annoying since it cancels Leftovers and makes Ferrothorn not able to deal huge damages with its STAB, but any Fire-type teammate such as Primal-Groudon or Ho-Oh can deal with Will-o-Wisp
Team Options
• Arceus-Water fits well with Ferrothorn by helping check Primal-Groudon, Ho-Oh and Zygarde-C
• Ho-Oh forms a solid core with Ferrothorn, as they don't share a weakness and can check a lot of offense threats such as Xerneas, Mega Lucario, Arceus-Steel, Primal-Kyogre and Mega Gengar, Ho-Oh can spread burn with Sacred Burn which helps Ferrothorn to check Physical Attackers and Ferrothorn can switch-in on Toxic
• Primal-Groudon appreciates the Stealth Rock support, it frees a moveslot for Primal-Groudon, allows it to run more offensive sets such as Double Dance, it also profits from Spikes and can easily OKHO/2HKO things with the chip damage
• Mega-Rayquaza checks such as Arceus-Fairy or Arceus-Rock fit very well with Ferrothorn, since Ferrothorn isn't a decent check to Mega-Rayquaza
• Yveltal and Ferrothorn is a good core, both don't share a weakness, Ferrothorn can check Fairy-types and fat things that wall Yveltal, while Yveltal can deal with Primal-Groudon, Arceus-Ghost and Mewtwo and profits from hazard stack
• Zygarde-C is a good teammate for Ferrothorn, good synergy between Physical Wall and Special Wall, each one checks the other's threats, Zygarde-C checks Fire-types, Mega Lucario and Swords Dance Arceus for Ferrothorn, this last one can check Fairy-types and Primal-Kyogre for Zygarde-C, Ferrothorn can set hazard and Zygarde-C can phase with Dragon Tail
• Offensive Threats such as Mega Rayquaza or Deoxys-Attack can sweep easily thanks to Ferrothorn's hazards
Strategy Comments
Other Options
• Toxic is a decent option on Ferrothorn, since it can cripple even more switch-ins and Setup sweepers and fits well with Leech Seed
• Chople Berry can be used to no worry about Focus Blast and check Geomancy Xerneas at +2, but lacking passive recovery makes it rarely choosed over Leftovers
• Thunder Wave is also an option that can be run if your team lacks Speed Control, as it annoys fast Sweepers such as Mewtwo, Mega Gengar and Deoxys-Attack
• Knock Off isn't a common option, but it can cripple some sweepers that run Choice Band, Life Orb or Lum Berry by knocking it off (not sure about this one btw, i might be wrong here)
Checks and Counters
**Fire-types**: Ho-Oh can switch on Ferrothorn safely and forces it out, Primal-Groudon can also easily switch-on, and set Stealth Rock or Swords Dance / Rock Polish while Ferrothorn switch-out, but Ferrothorn can wear down Primal Groudon slowly with Leech Seed chip
**Taunt**: Taunt users such as Yveltal, Mewtwo or Deoxys-Speed can shut down Ferrothorn, making it not able to set Spikes or Leech Seed and scout moves, it can do damage back with Gyro Ball but it will rarely stay on those and switch-out
**Physical Wallbreakers**: Strong Attackers such as Mega Rayquaza or Arceus-Ghost can easily break through Ferrothorn with strong physical attacks.
**Mega Sableye**: Thanks to Magic Bounce, Mega Sableye can switch on Ferrothorn, bounces back its hazards, takes few damage from Gyro Ball / Power Whip and can burn with Will-o-Wisp or forces Ferrothorn to switch-out
**Super effective coverage**: Ferrothorn is threaten by common coverage moves such as Fire Blast, Focus Blast or Superpower due to its typing, making it weak to Pokémon such as Deoxys-Attack or Mega Gengar
