1v1 Heatran [QC 3/3] [GP 2/2]

[OVERVIEW]

Heatran's excellent typing of Fire / Steel and ability in Flash Fire give it handy resistances to types such as Grass, Fairy, Steel, Dragon, Normal, Psychic, and Ice as well as immunities to Fire and Poison. In addition to the resulting ability to wall these types, it has a wide movepool with a lot of options. For offense, STAB and coverage moves such as Overheat, Flash Cannon, Earth Power, and Rock Tomb let Heatran also hit many Fire-, Poison-, Ice-, Fairy-, and Steel-type Pokemon for super effective damage, such as Charizard and Tapu Lele, and Grassium Z + Solar Beam covers its weaknesses to Water- and Ground-type Pokemon. Along with having fantastic offensive options, Heatran also comes with utility in the form of Metal Sound, letting it beat specially bulky Pokemon such as Blissey and Chansey, and Taunt, allowing it to shut down setup-reliant Pokemon such as Stored Power Necrozma. This is further complemented by Heatran's massive Special Attack stat and solid bulk. However, Heatran is weak to Water-, Fighting-, and Ground-type moves, all common offensive types in the metagame wielded by Pokemon such as Mega Gyarados, Mega Lopunny, and Zygarde-C. On top of that, since it has to use Grassium Z in order to use Solar Beam to cover Water- and Ground-types, it can't use Air Balloon, leaving it vulnerable to Pokemon such as Donphan and Garchomp, which carry ground moves while not fearing an OHKO from Bloom Doom.

Moves
=======

Overheat is Heatran's main way of dealing STAB damage to Pokemon such as Scizor, Ferrothorn, and Magearna. Since the battle ends after one Pokemon faints, the Special Attack drop isn't a worry unless it doesn't KO the foe. Rock Tomb is used to outpace Donphan and Magnezone, which otherwise outspeed Heatran after a Rock Tomb or Electroweb, and also beats Mega Charizard X and Y, hitting Mega Charizard X that hasn't Mega Evolved and Mega Charizard Y regardless. Flash Cannon is Heatran's secondary Steel-type STAB attack for Pokemon such as Mega Gardevoir and Tapu Lele and is more spammable than Overheat due to its lack of a Special Attack drop. Earth Power lets Heatran hit Ground-weak Pokemon resistant to Overheat such as Mega Charizard X and Naganadel, while Taunt lets Heatran beat setup-reliant foes such as Type: Null, Stored Power Necrozma, and Chansey and Blissey that are carrying Toxic over Seismic Toss.

Set Details
=======

Air Balloon temporarily negates Heatran's 4x Ground weakness, meaning that Pokemon like Donphan and Garchomp have to break the item with another attack before striking with a Ground-type move, buying Heatran time to KO them back. 128 Speed EVs allow Heatran to outspeed Modest Magnezone and maximum Speed Donphan from the start and base 100 Pokemon like Mew and Victini after a Rock Tomb. The given Special Defense investment allows Heatran to take Modest Magnezone's Electrium Z-boosted Zap Cannon, turning the match into a coinflip where Magnezone only wins if it successfully paralyzes Heatran with a Zap Cannon. The given physical bulk investment allows Heatran to survive a Hammer Arm from Jolly Mega Metagross, while 180 Special Attack EVs with a Modest nature maximize Heatran's damage output with the remaining EVs it has to work with.

Usage Tips
=======

Overheat is a powerful nuke move but has the drawback of lowering Heatran's Special Attack two stages if it doesn't KO the target, so only use it when you are sure it will KO such as against a speedy Donphan or Magnezone with their Sturdy broken or against a Fire-weak Pokemon such as Ferrothorn. Flash Cannon and Earth Power are for hitting Pokemon that Overheat won't guarantee a KO on; STAB Flash Cannon is for beating Rock- and Fairy-types such as Mega Diancie and Mega Gardevoir, while Earth Power is for Rock-types that aren't weak to Steel such as Aggron, Poison-types such as Naganadel, other Fire-types like Mega Charizard X, and making sure you don't automatically lose the mirror matchup. You almost always want to use Rock Tomb on a foe with Sturdy such as the aforementioned Magnezone and Donphan, as that will usually guarantee a KO the next turn and keeps Heatran's Speed higher than theirs if they use a Speed-lowering move as well.

Team Options
=======

Magearna, Mega Gardevoir, Tapu Lele, and Mega Altaria are good teammates for Heatran, since they remove physical threats such as Mega Gyarados, Zygarde-C, and Mega Lopunny and benefit from Heatran's ability to beat Steel-, Fire-, and Poison-types such as Magnezone, Charizard, and Naganadel. Furthermore, Pokemon that can remove Water-types such as Zeraora, Magnezone, Mega Venusaur, and Kartana are also great partners for Heatran. Mega Venusaur particularly likes how Heatran removes the Steel-, Flying-, and Psychic-types such as Ferrothorn, Mega Charizard Y, and Tapu Lele that otherwise give it a hard time.

[SET]
name: Blooming and Dooming
move1: Solar Beam
move2: Overheat
move3: Ancient Power
move4: Taunt / Metal Sound
item: Grassium Z
ability: Flash Fire
nature: Modest
evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Moves
=======

Grassium Z-boosted Solar Beam is a powerful move that allows Heatran to get the jump on slower Water-types such as Mega Swampert, Primarina, and bulky Tapu Fini, as well as OHKOing Mega Slowbro 75% of the time. Ancient Power lets Heatran beat both Mega Charizard X and Y without the need for Earth Power. Taunt handles foes like Type: Null and non-Seismic Toss Blissey and Chansey by shutting down their ability to recover or passively harm Heatran, and Metal Sound can be used to lower the opposing Pokemon's Special Defense, allowing Heatran to beat otherwise insurmountable threats like Z-Conversion Porygon-Z, Calm Mind Meloetta, and Seismic Toss Chansey.

Set Details
=======

252 Speed EVs let Heatran outspeed Water-types such as Adamant Mega Swampert, bulky Tapu Fini, bulky Krookodile, and Primarina. Maximum Special Attack investment with a Modest nature maximizes Heatran's damage output and gives it the best chance to KO specially defensive Slowbro. The remaining 4 EVs are thrown into Special Defense so that Genesect's Download boosts its Attack.

Usage Tips
=======

The goal of this set is simple: lure in the opponent's slower Water- or Ground-type and destroy it with a powerful Bloom Doom to win. It is effective at catching the opponent by surprise. The coverage the set provides is massive and allows it to win matchups against most Water- and Ground-type Pokemon such as Primarina and Mega Swampert that it would otherwise lose against. With Metal Sound, you can soften up special walls such as Type: Null, Chansey, and Z-Conversion Porygon-Z so that a single Overheat can make quick work of them. However, because you are running Grassium Z instead of an Air Balloon, this Heatran ends up losing to Pokemon such as Donphan and Golem, which can take a hit from it and hit it with a super effective Ground-type move turn 1.

Team Options
=======

Checks to Sturdy Pokemon such as Mega Gyarados and Mega Lopunny help out, as running Grassium Z means sacrificing Air Balloon, which causes Heatran to lose to Donphan and Earthquake Aggron, as well as to Magnezone, as this set doesn't run enough Special Defense investment to survive Electrium Z-boosted Zap Cannon.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]

Other Options
=============

Choice Scarf can be used for a fast Heatran that maximizes its coverage to beat Pokemon that normally outspeed it and KO such as non-Choice Scarf Durant. Firium Z, while it seems powerful, doesn't accomplish as much as its standard sets, only giving it a more consistent matchup against Mega Venusaur and Kyurem. Will-O-Wisp is great for halving Attack on physical attackers such as Aggron. Maximum Special Attack investment with Hidden Power Ice gives Heatran a fighting chance against Landorus-T and Garchomp.

Checks And Counters
===================

**Bulky Pokemon with Ground-type Moves**: Pokemon such as Kyurem and Dragonite that can tank a hit from Heatran while popping its Air Balloon and then fire off a powerful 4x super effective Ground-type move can make quick work of it. Zygarde-C gets special mention here, since Thousand Arrows can bypass Air Balloon and hit Heatran for 4x super effective damage whether its Air Balloon is intact or not.

**Powerful Water-types**: If Heatran isn't carrying Bloom Doom, powerful Water-type Pokemon such as Mega Gyarados, Mega Slowbro, Tapu Fini, and Primarina can quickly KO it, and even if Heatran brings it, faster Water-types like Mega Gyarados and Greninja can just KO Heatran first.

**Fighting-types**: Heatran also has a Fighting weakness, leaving it vulnerable to the likes of Mega Medicham, Mega Lopunny, and Pheromosa.

**Specially Defensive Pokemon**: Pokemon such as Seismic Toss Chansey and Blissey, Meloetta, and Z-Conversion Porygon-Z can easily outdamage Heatran, although they lose to Metal Sound.

- Excellent typing of Fire/Steel and ability in Flash Fire gives it handy resistances to types such as Grass, Fairy, Steel, Dragon, Normal, Psychic, Fire and Ice

- Unfortunately, 1v1 has many strong water types such as Mega Gyarados, Tapu Fini, Primarina, and Mega Slowbro who can do strong damage to it. and hardwall it with their typing
- Heatran also suffers from a fighting weakness, leaving it vulnerable to strong pokemon such as Pheromosa, Mega Medicham, Mega Lopunny, and Kommo-o.
- Heatran has a 4x weakness to ground moves, which is unfortunate since many pokemon in 1v1 carry powerful ground stab or coverage and while it can temporarily negate this with an air balloon, pokemon such as kyurem are able to pop the balloon, stomach heatran's hit, and then fire a strong ground move to kill it.
- Make sure you bring up its stats somewhere in here. High spa, solid bulk, lowish speed, etc.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
=======

- Overheat is Heatran's strongest stab and used for dishing out huge damage make sure you bring up what Overheat is good for as a primary stab over moves that people would otherwise immediately go for, like Fire Blast or Lava Plume.
- Rock Tomb breaks sturdy, pops opposing air balloons, and lowers speed allowing heatran to outspeed previously faster opponents and ko them before they get to move like what?
- Flash Cannon is secondary steel stab for pokemon such as Mega Gardevoir and Tapu Lele
- Earth Power is coverage that lets heatran hit ground weak mons resistant to overheat such as Mega Charizard X and Naganadel
- Taunt grants it wins against pokemon more reliant on set up and status moves such as Jumpluff Grassium is a big L and Kee Berry Defensive Mew.

Set Details
=======

- Air Balloon temporarily negates heatran's 4x ground weakness, forcing pokemon carrying ground type stab or coverage to pop the balloon first, buying heatran time to score a ko on them.
- 128 speed evs allows heatran to outspeed magnezone running a modest nature, and 252 Jolly Donphan from the start and thunderus therian after a rock tomb
- Special defense investment allows heatran to live a modest magnezone Z Zap-Cannon
- Physical bulk investment allows heatran to live a hammer arm from mega metagross Only jolly, but sure

Usage Tips
=======

- Overheat is a powerful nuke move but has the drawback of lowering heatran's special attack two stages so only use it when you are sure it will ko What is it good for ko-ing? As the writer, this is something you're supposed to know and impart onto the reader so that they don't have to learn it the hard way.
- Flash Cannon, Earth Power, and Rock Tomb are all good for softening up an opponent that won't die to overheat at the moment. Each move has a purpose, make that purpose clear; Flash Cannon is for Fairies, Earth Power is for Zard-X and the mirror matchup, and Rock Tomb is for lowering an opposing Charizard's Speed so that you can follow up with either EP or another Tomb for the 2hko, though TombTaunt also helps for the likes of kee mew.
- You almost always want to rock tomb on an opponent with sturdy as that will usually guarantee a kill the next turn
- You seemed to miss describing the purpose of Taunt. (Make sure you bring up relevant matchups it's good for, as well)

Team Options
=======

- Magearna, Mega Gardevoir, Tapu Lele, and Mega Altaria are good teammates for Heatran since they remove threats such as Mega Gyarados and Zygarde-Complete and benefit from Heatran's ability to beat steel, fire, and poison types
- Pokemon that can remove water types such as Zeraora, Magnezone, Mega Venusaur, and Kartana are also great partners for Heatran. Mega Venusuar particularly likes how Heatran removes the steels, flying types, and psychic types that otherwise give it a hard time.

[SET]
Name: Praise The Sun (Grassium Z)
Move1: Solar Beam
Move2: Overheat
Move3: Ancient Power
Move4: Taunt
Nature: Timid
EVs: 32 Def / 252 SpA / 224 Spe

[SET DETAILS]
Moves
=======

- Z Solar Beam is a powerful move that allows Heatran to get the jump on slower water types such as Mega Swampert, Mega Slowbro You're not reliably killing Spdef Slowbro (its most common set) with Timid, Primarina, and Tapu Fini
- Overheat is Heatran's strongest stab move and lets Heatran hit mons that don't resist fire for a good amount of damage like what
- Ancient Power is used over Rock Tomb in this set because there is little reason to outspeed anything outside of what Heatran already outspeeds. But what does it actually hit? Make it clear that it basically covers the niche of Rock Tomb + Earth Power on the previous set in a single move slot.
- Taunt gives Heatran favorable matchups against pokemon reliant on non-damaging moves such as Kee Berry Defensive Mew and Jumpluff. Without speed reducing, Kee Mew has an advantage against you now, so maybe find a different example. Jumpluff also shreds Taunt Heatran with Grassium, so that isn't really applicable either.

Set Details
=======

- Grassium Z is needed to turn Solar Beam into a powerful nuke move that kills slower waters This can be removed since you already cover Z-Solar Beam in Moves
- 224 speed with a timid nature lets Heatran outspeed 252 speed modest Tapu Fini This is not a set that people use. You're better off going with Modest for the added KO chance vs Slowbro, as well as guaranteeing the KO vs Fini. The fastest spread in recent usage is 140 Spe, and Modest 252 Tran still outspeeds that.
- Maximum special attack maximizes Heatran's damage output If you could find some threats that it particularly needs the maxed out damage for, that'd help solidify your case.
- 32 defense is all the remaining evs which gives Heatran the best chance at living Mega Metagross' Hammer Arm Hammer Arm gross isn't really that big of a thing, nowadays, but your point isn't wrong or flawed so w/e.

Usage Tips
=======

- If you find yourself against a slower water, just click Z Solar Beam like what?
- As mentioned before, Overheat is the strongest move at Heatran's disposal but lowers Heatran's special attack so it should only be used if you are sure that it will kill. name some things that it would be ideal to go right for Overheat against
- Use Ancient Power to soften up mons that won't die to Overheat immediately such as?
- Use Taunt if you feel the opponent is packing a set that relies heavily on status moves such as Kee Mew and Jumpluff. covered this at the end of Moves, find examples you actually beat.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

- Firium Z can be used to turn Overheat into an even stronger fire type nuke that doesn't lower Heatran's special attack but is less preferred to Air Balloon and Grassium as it doesn't grant Heatran that many favorable matchups Is there anything that it particularly matters for that Air Balloon or Grassium don't cover? Does it have some kind of hybrid niche between the two? There's not really a point in bringing it up in Other Options if you don't say what it's good for.
- Metal Sound can increase damage from Heatran's special moves and has 64 pp and goes through sub. However, since Heatran lacks sturdy, it is hard-pressed to find opportunities to use metal sound successfully. same as above, does it help you beat anything that you wouldn't be able to, otherwise?

Checks And Counters
===================

- **Powerful Water Types**: If Heatran isn't carrying Z Solar Beam, powerful water types such as Mega Gyarados, Mega Slowbro, Tapu Fini, and Primarina can quickly KO Heatran and even if Heatran brings it, faster waters like Mega Gyarados and Greninja can just KO Heatran first
- **Bulky Pokemon with Ground Stab/Coverage**: Pokemon such as Kyurem and Dragonite who can tank a hit from Heatran while popping its balloon and then fire off a powerful 4x effective ground move can make quick work of it. Zygarde-Complete gets special mention here since Thousand Arrows can both pop the balloon, then become 4x effective the next turn and murder it. Tarrows is actually 4x effective immediately, just outright ohkos.
- **Fighting Type or Pokemon with Fighting Coverage**: Heatran also has a fighting weakness, leaving it vulnerable to the likes of pokemon such as Mega Medicham, Mega Lopunny, Zeraora, and Pheromosa.

An important note regarding formatting is that smogon has actual bullets you can use. You can make things bulleted by highlighting the text you wish to bullet, selecting the option at the top of the text box labeled "List" and selecting the option labeled "Unordered List"; this will automatically make your highlighted text bulleted, rather than having to put a dash at the beginning of each line as you've done here.
Once you've edited in all the changes I suggested, that'll be QC 1/3 (which you would have to edit so that the title of the thread shows the 1/3 completion).

Feel free to discuss any of the changes I suggested here, if you're not sure about something c:

Bolded is additions, strikethrough is stuff that should be removed, underline needs to be edited in some way, red is comments. All information I bring are based on 1630 Usage stats (considering anything at or above 6% as of Jan 2019 usage relevant) and Calcs.
[OVERVIEW]
  • Heatran's Excellent typing of Fire/Steel and ability in Flash Fire gives it handy resistances to types such as Grass, Fairy, Steel, Dragon, Normal, Psychic, Fire and Ice, as well as an immunity to Fire
  • In addition to being able to wall these types, it has a movepool granting access to moves like Earth Power, Overheat, Flash Cannon, and Solar Beam next point which lets Heatran also hit many of these types Pokemon for super effective damage, such as (enter examples)
  • mention ability to lure water and ground types with Grassium Solar Beam
  • Unfortunately, 1v1 has many strong water types such as Mega Gyarados, Tapu Fini, Primarina, and Mega Slowbro who can do strong damage to it and hardwall it with their typing Since you're including grassium, this point isn't super accurate, especially concerning prima and bro.
  • Heatran also suffers from a fighting weakness, leaving it vulnerable to strong pokemon such as Pheromosa, Mega Medicham, Mega Lopunny, and Kommo-o.
  • Heatran has a 4x weakness to ground moves, which is unfortunate since many pokemon in 1v1 carry powerful ground stab or coverage and while it can temporarily negate this with an air balloon, pokemon such as kyurem are able to pop the balloon, stomach heatran's hit, and then fire a strong ground move to kill it. Spend wayyy too much space talking about types that beat it. Combine the last three points and just say Heatran is unfortunately weak to several common offensive types, such as Water-, Fighting-, and Ground-Type Pokemon like (x, y, z). You can then mention how Air Balloon and Grassium somewhat mitigate it for certain cases, but not all
  • Heatran’s amazing defensive typing and offensive coverage are further backed up by its stats, having 130 special attack and 91/106/106 bulk move this with the other positives
  • Heatran isn’t the fastest pokemon with 77 base speed mention why being slow is bad. It wouldn't be notable at all if rock tomb completely solved everything but with rock tomb, it becomes able to outpace what it needs to such as electroweb Magnezone and Rock Tomb Donphan for kills. Is this supposed to be a positive point or negative? Separate the information a bit
  • Mention utility in the form of Metal Sound, Taunt, and Rock Tomb, and there purpose. pair it with the other positives
[SET]

Moves
=======
  • Overheat is Heatran's strongest stab and used for dishing out huge damage and is preferable over its other fire stab options as it has the most power already said that and since the battle ends after a single ko, the -2 special attack drop isn’t a worry unless you don’t score a KO. Who does it hit?
  • Rock Tomb breaks sturdy from what?, pops opposing air balloons from Heatran? then this wouldn't be a guaranteed matchup. Remove it if its just heatran , and lowers speed allowing heatran to maintain a higher speed stat than slower pokemon who also have speed dropping moves such as magnezone with elecroweb and donphan with rock tomb This is the most important reason to run tomb, put this first
  • Flash Cannon is secondary steel stab for pokemon such as Mega Gardevoir and Tapu Lele mention how it also avoids the -2 spa drop
  • Earth Power is coverage that lets heatran hit ground weak mons resistant to overheat such as Mega Charizard X and Naganadel
  • Taunt lets heatran beat set up reliant mons such as type: null, stored power necrozma, and charm charm has nothing to do with the heatran mu, change to non-Seismic Toss chansey and blissey, as seismic toss and charm aren't compatible
Set Details
=======
  • Air Balloon temporarily negates heatran's 4x ground weakness, forcing many not all pokemon carrying ground type stab or coverage to pop the balloon first, buying heatran time to score a ko on them. Who is them?
  • 128 speed evs allows heatran to outspeed magnezone running a modest nature, and 252 Jolly Donphan from the start and thunderus therian after a rock tomb Wouldn't something a base 100 mon be a bit more significant? like Victini or whatever
  • Special defense investment allows heatran to live a modest magnezone Z Zap-Cannon doesn't magnezone just win if it hits a zap cannon? it's basically a 50/50, even less so considering you also need tomb to hit. consider changing evs
  • Physical bulk investment allows heatran to live a hammer arm from jolly mega metagross
  • mention special attack and modest nature and if that serves any purpose. if not, just say its to hit as hard as possible
Usage Tips
=======
  • Overheat is a powerful nuke move but has the drawback of lowering heatran's special attack two stages so only use it when you are sure it will ko. against what?
  • The other offensive moves; Flash Cannon, and Earth Power are for hitting things that Overheat won’t guarentee KO. Flash Cannon for stab, rock types, and fairy types; such as? and Earth Power for other Fire types, rock types that aren’t weak to steel such as aggron, steel types not weak to fire such as other heatrans change wording to "so you don't autolose the Heatran ditto", poison types such as naganadel, and other fire types like Mega Charizard X
  • You almost always want to rock tomb on an opponent with sturdy such as? as that will usually guarantee a kill the next turn and keeps your speed higher than them if they use a move that drops your speed as well
Team Options
=======
  • Magearna, Mega Gardevoir, Tapu Lele, and Mega Altaria are good teammates for Heatran since they remove physical threats such as Mega Gyarados, and Zygarde-Complete, and Mega Lopunny, and benefit from Heatran's ability to beat steel, fire, and poison types such as?

Moves
=======
  • Z Solar Beam is a powerful move that allows Heatran to get the jump on slower water types such as Mega Swampert, Primarina, and bulky Tapu Fini, as well as OHKOing Mega Slowbro 75% of the time. I know Osra said to remove mega bro, but since you changed to modest max spa, mention that you beat bro 75% of the time
  • Overheat is Heatran's strongest stab move and lets Heatran hit mons that don't resist fire for a good amount of damage to pokemon like Scizor, Kartana, Magearna, Mega Metagross eq meta wrecks you now and Genesect
  • Ancient Power is used mainly for beating the charizards and is used over rock tomb because for rock tomb to beat charizard X, it has to be run with earth power, thus ancient power saves a moveslot This point is worded strangely. Rock Tomb was used to beat Sturdy users like Donphan and Golem, who can now beat you because you don't have air balloon, hence why you're running Ancient Power. Remove the bit about tomb being used for char x
  • Just like before, taunt handles mons like type: null and charm non-Seismic Toss blissey/chansey who rely on non damaging moves a lot
  • Mention Metal Sound; it is a good move for the Z-Move variants of Heatran, but not quite good enough to be included in set. Just say it helps in beating Calm Mind Meloetta, Z-Conv PZ, Calm Mind Mega Slowbro, and Seismic Toss Blissey
Set Details
=======
  • 252 speed lets heatran outspeed water types such as slowbro, adamant mega swampert, common bulky common changes definition often tapu fini sets, bulky Krookodile and primarina.
  • Maximum special attack with a modest nature maximizes Heatran's damage output and gives it the best chance to kill spdef slowbro
  • does 4 def serve any purpose? Wouldn't you want 4 in spdef for download? just quickly mention if it does or does not do anything, or change to spdef if it doesn't.
Usage Tips
=======
  • If you find yourself against a slower water such as the aformentioned primarina or tapu fini, just click Z Solar Beam
  • As mentioned before, Overheat is the strongest move at Heatran's disposal but lowers Heatran's special attack so it should only be used if you are sure that it will kill such as?
  • Use Ancient Power to soften up mons that won't die to Overheat immediately like offensive mew Wdym by soften up? get chip damage? and why not just use z-Solar beam into overheat or whatever?
  • Be careful when talking about this, but also say that, in desperate scenarios, go for ancientpower boosts. Idk any specific ones that come to mind but i'm sure you can think of one or two mus where this is the play
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]

Other Options
=============
  • Choice Scarf can be used for a fast heatran that goes full coverage to beat pokemon that normally outspeed it and kill such as non-scarf durant, and mega pinsir
  • Include Firium Z + Metal Sound as an option. Beats Chansey, and everything else metal sound + grassium beat.
  • Also mention Will o Wisp to halve attack, with some examples
  • I would also include Hidden Power Ice with max Special Attack to beat Pokemon like Landorus-Therian and have a chance against Garchomp
Checks And Counters
===================
  • **Powerful Water Types**: If Heatran isn't carrying Z Solar Beam, powerful water types such as Mega Gyarados, Mega Slowbro, Tapu Fini, and Primarina can quickly KO Heatran and even if Heatran brings it, faster waters like Mega Gyarados and Greninja can just KO Heatran first make this the second bullet point, considering Z Solar Beam is a main set, and ground types are a common weakness on both sets
  • **Bulky Pokemon with Ground Stab/Coverage Ground-Type Moves**: Pokemon such as Kyurem and Dragonite who can tank a hit from Heatran while popping its balloon and then fire off a powerful 4x effective ground move can make quick work of it. Zygarde-Complete gets special mention here since Thousand Arrows can bypass Air Balloon and hit heatran for 4x effective balloon or no
  • **Fighting Types or Pokemon with Fighting Coverage moves**: Heatran also has a fighting weakness, leaving it vulnerable to the likes of pokemon such as Mega Medicham, Mega Lopunny, Zeraora, and Pheromosa.
  • mention specially defensive Pokemon like Seismic Toss Blissey and Chansey, Meloetta, Z-Conv Porygon Z, stuff like that that need metal sound to handle

As you're implementing this QC, please use https://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/spelling-and-grammar-standards.3588427/ these grammar standards. You'll have to fix the grammar in the future anyway, so doing a little work on your own makes it so we can get the grammar checks out of the way faster. Especially concerning stuff like Pokemon types and other Pokemon terms (super effective damage, stuff liek that), and capitalizing many terms. Every move, Pokemon, and type should be capitalized. When talking about a Pokemon's mega, say Mega (Pokemon).

Also, examples are important. You had some but you can add more. There were also several instances where osra asked you to implement examples that you missed.

tag me after implementing so i can review this again. (edit: Yech E (writing your name so i don't forget))

  • Heatran’s amazing defensive typing and offensive coverage are further backed up by its stats, having 130 excellent special attack and 91/106/106 overall bulk the numbers are meaningless to noobs
  • Along with having fantastic offensive options, Heatran also comes with utility in the form of Metal Sound, letting it beat specially bulky pokemon such as?, and Taunt, allowing it to shut down set up reliant pokemon such as Type: Null. You're not wrong but Type: Null isn't super relevant in this metagame, perhaps choose something like Jumpluff or Mega Venusaur?
  • Although Heatran’s speed stat of 77 is average at best, with most speed droppers such as Magnezone withe electroweb and donphan with rock tomb outspeeding it after a single hit, Heatran has rock tomb itself, allowing Heatran to stay faster than them and break their sturdy. This entire point should be revised. If the reason Rock Tomb is used is because it breaks Sturdy and counters Sturdy Speed control, then you don't need to mention Heatran's poor Speed. If Rock Tomb is used to outspeed certain Pokemon that don't have Speed Control (the only one I can think of is stall Deoxys-S), then include examples. Also mention Tomb lets heatran hit regular Charizard before they mega evolve into X.
  • Heatran is unfortunately weak to Water-, Fighting-, and Ground-type moves (as heatran can beat many Water and Ground mons), all common offensive types in the meta wielded by pokemon such as Mega-Gyarados, Mega-Lopunny, and Zygarde-Complete.
  • However, Heatran can circumvent its weaknesses to water and fire by running either Z-Solar Beam for water to lure slower water types, or and Air Balloon to temporarily make itself immune to most ground type moves. Move this point alongside the positives

Moves
=======
  • Overheat is Heatran's main STAB move for doing fire type damage to pokemon such as Scizor, Ferrothorn, and Magearna. It is used over its other fire type moves as it has the most power of them all and filler since the battle ends after a single ko, the -2 special attack drop isn’t a worry unless you don’t score a KO.
  • Rock Tomb is used to outpace Donphan and Magnezone, who otherwise outspeed Heatran after a rock tomb or electroweb. same stuff with Overview. Mention it hits Char x when it hasn't mega evolved.
  • Flash Cannon is secondary steel stab for pokemon such as Mega Gardevoir and Tapu Lele and is more spammable than Overheat due to it not lowering Heatran’s special attack stat
  • Earth Power is coverage that lets heatran hit ground weak mons resistant to overheat such as Mega Charizard X and Naganadel
  • Taunt lets heatran beat set up reliant mons such as type: null, stored power necrozma, and chansey and blissey if they are carrying toxic over seismic toss.
Set Details
=======
  • Air Balloon temporarily negates Heatran's 4x ground weakness, forcing many pokemon carrying ground type stab or coverage to pop the balloon first, buying heatran time to ko back. Which Pokemon?
  • 128 speed evs allows heatran to outspeed magnezone running a modest nature, and 252 Jolly Donphan from the start and base 100s like Mew and Victini after a Rock Tomb
  • Special defense investment allows heatran to live a modest magnezone Z Zap-Cannon, turning the match into a 50/50 where Magnezone only wins if it successfully lands a Zap Cannon.
  • Physical bulk investment allows heatran to live a hammer arm from jolly mega metagross
  • 180 Special Attack EVs and a Modest Nature maximizes Heatran’s damage with the remaining EVs it has to work with.
Usage Tips
=======
  • Overheat is a powerful nuke move but has the drawback of lowering Heatran's special attack two stages so only use it when you are sure it will ko such as against a speedy Donphan or Magnezone below full HP or against a fire weak mon such as Ferrothorn.
  • The other offensive moves; Flash Cannon, and Earth Power are for hitting things that Overheat won’t guarantee KO. Flash Cannon is for stab and beating rock and fairy types such as Mega Diancie and Mega Gardevoir. Earth Power for other Fire types, you talk about Fire-types later rock types that aren’t weak to steel such as Aggron, poison types such as naganadel, other fire types like Mega Charizard X, and making sure you don’t auto lose the Heatran v Heatran mirror match.
  • You almost always want to rock tomb on an opponent with sturdy such as the aforementioned Magnezone and Donphan as that will usually guarantee a kill the next turn and keeps your speed higher than them if they use a move that drops your speed as well
Team Options

  • Magearna, Mega Gardevoir, Tapu Lele, and Mega Altaria are good teammates for Heatran since they remove physical threats such as Mega Gyarados, and Zygarde-Complete, and Mega Lopunny, and benefit from Heatran's ability to beat steel, fire, and poison types such as Charizard, Naganadel, and Magnezone.

And generally, please be sure to check out that link to the grammar standards I sent. For example, any mention of a type should be written like "Fire-type", not "fire", or anything like that. Lists go like this:
"Grass-, Fairy-, Steel-, Dragon-, Normal-, Psychic-, Fire- and Ice-types, as well as an immunity to Fire-types.
Also, every Pokemon and move should be capitalized.
There's plenty more grammar stuff that should be implemented, but that's not my primary field.

after this, qc 2/3

XinosXinos So, overall good job, just a few things that should be said:
first set:
  • Air Balloon temporarily negates Heatran's 4x Ground weakness, meaning that Pokemon like Donphan and Garchomp have to pop the Air Balloon with another attack before striking with a Ground-Type move, buying Heatran time to KO back.
Ik i said to add examples, Garchomp isn't rlly a good example. Sure, you beat band and scarf, but Groundium is literally 50% usage, and Dragonium is 14, meaning you'll lose 64% of the time. Maybe use Mamoswine as an example instead?

Second set:
  • Metal Sound can be used instead of Taunt to beat specially defensive Pokemon such as Chansey, Blissey, and Z Conversion Porygon-Z.
No, I mean include metal sound separately as a potential option for Heatran. It shouldn't be compared to taunt, it should be liek this:
  • Taunt handles mons like Type: Null and non-Seismic Toss blissey/chansey by shutting down their ability to recover or passively harm Heatran.
  • Metal Sound can be used to lower the opposing Pokemon's Special Defense, allowing Heatran to beat otherwise insurmountable threats like Z-Conversion Porygon Z, Calm Mind Meloetta, and Seismic Toss Chansey.
Also, convert the analysis into paragraph formatting. You won't get another qc until you do so

Team Options
=======

Checks to sturdy pokemon such as Magearna and Mega Lopunny help out as running Z Solar Beam means sacrificing Air Balloon, which causes Heatran to lose to Donphan and Aggron, if it is carrying Earthquake or Superpower this isn't run on either mon as well as losing to Magnezone as this set doesn’t run enough special defense investment to live Z Zap Cannon. magearna doesnt beat magnezone. Also, gyarados-mega usually covers all of the mons you just mentioned, so use that instead of magearna.

With Metal Sound, you can soften up special walls such as Type: Null, Chansey, and Z-Conversion (AH) Porygon-Z so that a single Overheat can make quick work of them. However, because you are running Grassium Z instead of an Air Balloon, you this Heatran end up losing to Pokemon such as Donphan and Golem, (AC) who which can live take a hit from Heatran it and hit it with a super effective Ground-type (AH) move turn 1.

Team Options
=======

Checks to Sturdy pokemon such as Mega Gyarados and Mega Lopunny help out, (AC) as running Z Solar Beam Grassium Z means sacrificing Air Balloon, which causes Heatran to lose to Donphan and Earthquake Aggron, if it is carrying Earthquake as well as losing to Magnezone, (AC) as this set doesn’t run enough Special Defense investment to live survive Electrium Z-boosted Zap Cannon.

Other Options

Choice Scarf can be used for a fast Heatran that goes full maximizes its coverage to beat Pokemon that normally outspeed it and kill KO such as non-Choice Scarf Durant. Firium Z, while it seems powerful, doesn’t accomplish as much as its standard sets, only giving it a more consistent matchup against Mega Venusaur (RH) and Kyurem. Will-o-Wisp is great for halving Attack on physical attackers such as Aggron. Maximum Special Attack with Hidden Power Ice gives Heatran a fighting chance against Landorus-Therian and Garchomp.

Checks And Counters
===================

**Bulky Pokemon with Ground-type Moves**: Pokemon such as Kyurem and Dragonite who that can tank a hit from Heatran while popping its Air Balloon and then fire off a powerful 4x super effective Ground-type move can make quick work of it. Zygarde-Complete gets special mention here, AC) since Thousand Arrows can bypass Air Balloon and hit Heatran for 4x super effective balloon or not damage whether its Air Balloon is intact or not.

**Powerful Water-types**: If Heatran isn't carrying Z Solar Beam Bloom Doom, powerful Water-type Pokemon such as Mega Gyarados, Mega Slowbro, Tapu Fini, and Primarina can quickly KO Heatran it, (AC) and even if Heatran brings it, faster waters Water-types like Mega Gyarados and Greninja can just KO Heatran first. (AP)

**Fighting-types**: Heatran also has a Fighting weakness, leaving it vulnerable to the likes of Pokemon such as Mega Medicham, Mega Lopunny, and Pheromosa.

**Specially Defensive Pokemon**: Pokemon such as Seismic Toss Chansey and Blissey, Meloetta, and Z-Conversion (AH) Porygon-Z (AH) can easily out damage outdamage Heatran, although they lose to Metal Sound.

Along with having fantastic offensive options, Heatran also comes with utility in the form of Metal Sound, letting it beat specially bulky Pokemon such as Blissey and Chansey, and Taunt, allowing it to shut down setup-reliant(Space)Pokemon such as Stored Power Necrozma. This is further complemented by Heatran’s Heatran's (Use ASCII apostrophes, not the curly ones) massive Special Attack stat and solid bulk. However, Heatran is weak to Water-, Fighting-, and Ground-type moves, all common offensive types in the metagame wielded by Pokemon such as Mega Gyarados, Mega Lopunny, and Zygarde-C. On top of that, since it has to use Grassium Z in order to use Solar Beam to cover Water- and Ground-types, it can’t can't use Air Balloon, leaving it vulnerable to Pokemon such as Donphan and Garchomp, which carry ground moves while not fearing an OHKO from Bloom Doom.

Moves
=======

Overheat is Heatran's main way of dealing STAB damage to Pokemon such as Scizor, Ferrothorn, and Magearna. Since the battle ends after one Pokemon faints, the Special Attack drop isn’t isn't a worry unless it doesn't KO the foe. Rock Tomb is used to outpace Donphan and Magnezone, which otherwise outspeed Heatran after a Rock Tomb or Electroweb, and also beats Mega Charizard formes X and Y, hitting Mega Charizard X that hasn’t hasn't Mega Evolved and Mega Charizard Y regardless. Flash Cannon is Heatran’s Heatran's secondary Steel-type STAB attack for Pokemon such as Mega Gardevoir and Tapu Lele and is more spammable than Overheat due to its lack of a Special Attack drop.

Set Details
=======

Air Balloon temporarily negates Heatran's 4x Ground weakness, meaning that Pokemon like Donphan and Garchomp have to break the item with another attack before striking with a Ground-type move, buying Heatran time to KO them back. 128 Speed EVs allow Heatran to outspeed Modest Magnezone and maximum Speed Donphan from the start and base 100s 100 Pokemon like Mew and Victini after a Rock Tomb. The given Special Defense investment allows Heatran to take Modest Magnezone's Electrium Z-boosted Zap Cannon, turning the match into a coinflip where Magnezone only wins if it successfully paralyzes Heatran with a Zap Cannon. The given physical bulk investment allows Heatran to survive a Hammer Arm from Jolly Mega Metagross, and while 180 Special Attack EVs with a Modest nature maximize Heatran’s Heatran's damage output with the remaining EVs it has to work with.

Usage Tips
=======

Overheat is a powerful nuke move but has the drawback of lowering Heatran's Special Attack two stages if it doesn’t doesn't KO the target, so only use it when you are sure it will KO such as against a speedy Donphan or Magnezone with their Sturdy broken or against a Fire-weak Pokemon such as Ferrothorn. Flash Cannon and Earth Power, (RC) are for hitting Pokemon that Overheat won’t won't guarantee a KO on; STAB Flash Cannon is for beating Rock- and Fairy-types such as Mega Diancie and Mega Gardevoir, while Earth Power is for Rock-types that aren’t aren't weak to Steel such as Aggron, Poison-types such as Naganadel, other Fire-types like Mega Charizard X, and making sure you don’t don't automatically lose the mirror matchup. You almost always want to use Rock Tomb on a foe with Sturdy such as the aforementioned Magnezone and Donphan, as that will usually guarantee a KO(Space)the next turn and keeps Heatran's Speed higher than theirs if they use a Speed-lowering move as well.

Team Options
=======

[SET DETAILS]

Moves
=======

Grassium Z-boosted Solar Beam is a powerful move that allows Heatran to get the jump on slower Water-types such as Mega Swampert, Primarina, and bulky Tapu Fini, as well as OHKOing Mega Slowbro 75% of the time. Ancient Power lets Heatran beat both Mega Charizard formes X and Y without the need for Earth Power. Taunt handles foes like Type: Null and non-Seismic Toss Blissey and Chansey(Space)by shutting down their ability to recover or passively harm Heatran, and Metal Sound can be used to lower the opposing Pokemon's Special Defense, allowing Heatran to beat otherwise insurmountable threats like Z-Conversion Porygon-(AH)Z, Calm Mind Meloetta, and Seismic Toss Chansey.

Set Details
=======

Usage Tips
=======

The goal of this set is simple: lure in the opponent’s opponent's slower Water- or Ground-type and destroy it with a powerful Bloom Doom to win. It is effective at catching the opponent by surprise. The coverage the set provides is massive and allows it to win matchups against most Water- and Ground-type Pokemon such as Primarina and Mega Swampert that it would otherwise lose against.
