Steelicks just told me to make this thread, regarding a relatively worldwide game. Many of you may know about it, but if you don't, here's a link to Steam, where you play it:

Okay, well, the game is all about getting out there and shooting the other team, and gaining the most points. Easy, right? Orly... actually, its not as easy as that. The other team have guns, and they aren't Computer bots, they're people playing around the worldwide.

There are a few classes to play as. These classes are split into groups - Offensive, Defensive, and Support (IIRC...).

Anyway, if you want to play, download it off of Steam. It costs $23.49 (inc. tax). You can also buy the game from your local store - it comes on PS3, xBox and PC. PC version is best IMO, but its your choice.

You can also buy the Orange Box, which is a pack of games including TF2, Half-Life etc.

Unless you're sure your computer is VERY good, check this site out:

And just pick TF2 out of the list, it'll check out your computer, and tell you whether your computer is good enough to handle it.

It's a competitive-themed server, so it has 16 slots and runs mostly push maps.

Join our Steam group so that we can pester you with announcements to join the server when we get a game joining!

What classes do others play? I'm a scout first and foremost, I love double jumping all the way to their bases and just batting their faces before taunting, as well as weapon heckling pyros and batting heavies and snipers after djing onto their heads.
I usually play abit more solo than is productive, and I usually do more patrolling than pushing and capping.
I'm also a decent sniper and demoman, but I don't play them as much, only in maps or situations where scout is useless, like a sentry stalemate in 2fort :/

Ive got every achieve except for the play with 8 friends one, but I joined a group dedicated to getting this achieve the other day and their achieve event is tonight at 7:00 so then i'll be 100%.

Hmm, this sounds like a pretty good game.
Is it free to play after you buy it, or do you have to pay monthly charges?
If it's free, then I'll probably get it sometime soon.

I tried my own version of the drunken flying demoman today in cp_orange3x today and goddamn, it's amazing. If anyone hasn't seen the vid (i posted it in the youtube thread): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OC7N9_NT_S0

There were a couple of amazing ones from my : The first one, we were all the the top of the centre cp after capping and a spy had sneaked to the cp behind that and was capping pretty quick. I layed down a sticky, sailed through the air with bottle in hand and batted him in one fell swoop as he disguised into a pyro. The first thwack with the bottle was fired in mid-air :P Hell yeah I fucking taunted afterwards. Then I got sniped.
The second one wasnt as grand, but it was still awesome. I was hiding round the corner of this huge enemy turret farm and wondering how to retreat, so I decide to sticky bomb out of there in fashion. But just after I jumped I noticed a pyro had jumped off the ledge above me and I batted him with a crit (midair) that ohkoed him as he fell to the ground with a thump, dead.
It's amazing, everyone freaking try it, even if it puts your kdr at like 10:30

Also, a question; how do you get the special weapons. Like the Buldersauger or whatever for the Medic?

I dont see whats so great about mario kart at all...

Also why is mario kart the prime target for modded servers, last one i joined had 2X attack speed, the scouts bat made him look like he was having a spasm

Modded servers suck. Some are OK, but others really piss me off. I'm going on now.

Hehe, set a new headshot record, and sniper points record today as well as tied my overall whole point records with spy. Headshot record is 12 , and I got 28 points, tieing identical spy score.
I got some pretty crazy lives, and usually I'd be killed by scouts or spies, anyone else was easy god damn picking in orange_x3. I got a few amazing scores, this was just the best of the lot :D

Whats everybody's highest damage? Mine is 85704 (as Sniper).

Big news today, the new Pyro class update featuring three more new weapons and a complete overhaul of class gameplay (unrelated to obtaining achievements) is out this Thursday, the 19th!
One of the new weapons is the "Axtinguisher". It does half the damage that the regular axe does, but always crits on flaming enemies. I can also assume it puts out the flames considering the name, though I cant remember reading that anywhere.

No other info regarding weapons or gameplay changes has been released as of now.
This is itself sound interesting, probably because it leads to many more humiliation and AIR GUITARRRRRR oppurtunities, but the thing with the axe is that it's close range, like the flamethrower, and the flamethrower is obviously your weapon of choice. The axtinguisher attempts to combine elements of both, but tbh, if an enemy has seen you from the front it means either:
a.) You're dead or useless, or
b.) You've ambushed them and either they're backpedalling or dead. (or demo/soldiers sacrifice themselves as they kill you by firing at your feet)
Either of the options in B lead to no axing. If they're backpedalling and you hit them with the new axe, chances are they will die if you can hit them (easier said than done though), but if you hit them, and fail to kill them, you're left with a half power melee weapon against (chances are) their primary weapon.

Rumours have been going around about an incendiary shotgun, but again if you're using the shotgun, you're not using the axe...

However, it looks awesome, and is awesome, at least aesthetically. I can only imagine setting someone on fire, then pulling out your barbed-wire encrusted firemans axe for a critical hack that instakills them, before rocking out over their corpse. Definitely the games best humiliation.


edit: Forgot to mention the "meet the sniper" video is out today, and also that in the pyro update valve are shining some light on and sort of "officialising" (kind of) two custom maps they believe are deserving, and basically encouraging more people to play them.

I might start playing again once the patch is out. People will have moved on from Medic and there will be a bunch of Pyros to heal ^_^

Steam ID's SgtWoodsy, I normally play on the Internode servers. (Australian, of course.) I'll probably cop out and play in the Achievement servers for the Pyro upgrades (like the Medic ones), since I don't have the time or patience to do it properly.

EDIT: Supposedly, CP_Fastlane will be one of the Community Maps. ShackNews seems to indicate so.
